Tonight the team hiked high up into the mountains above San Pedro Sula. At the very top, visible from almost anywhere in the valley below, is a bright red Coca-Cola sign. There overlooking the city, we gathered to pray and worship together. It was an awesome view and an amazing time praying over the city! Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. -Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
After a week of compassion and evangelism around the city, the first night of the Honduras Ora crusade meetings was finally here. The team headed to the stadium around 5:30, full of anticipation for what was going to take place. As we were ushered into the stadium we heard the sounds of prayer coming from the stage. Then, once we were seated a few hundred feet from the stage, a time of worship began. What a wonderful time of celebration in the presence of the Lord with the people of Honduras! Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks and praise his name. – Psalm 100:4 To see all the people together in one place was encouraging. Both rich and poor, young and old, came together in unity. Even the President of Honduras was in attendance, just as he said he would be. There he stood…
It’s not uncommon in America for hundreds of dollars to pass through our hands each month without a second glance. We spend so much on things that are fleeting, but in Honduras this week, we see just how far our money can go. To those whose have generously donated over the years to Light of Life International, today you helped make a child’s wish come true. They don’t need a new cell phone, or a new video game to play at home. For the child living in poverty, they want something to call their own. See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. – Matthew 18:10 In a place where most children don’t have a single toy to their name, a stuffed animal can change their attitude, and open…
It’s now been almost a week since the advance teams arrived here in Honduras. We have seen God do so much, and there is still more work to be done! This has been our largest crusade ever, with more than 150 people here on the ground from around the world. Everyone is “all in” at this point, with hundreds of thousands of souls here in San Pedro that need Jesus. Yet the need is still so great, and even our largest teams are overwhelmed with the needs of the people. At the beginning of the week we loaded up more than 6,000 bags of food, which the Lord has multiplied and used in a mighty way! If you have a heart for missions, would you consider partnering with us to spread the gospel? We would love to hear from you on our website or through Facebook. There is also a…
I was especially touched by a few pictures from Cofradia tonight. Partially because I was there last year ministering to the people of Honduras, and got to see first hand their passion and joy. Joy is something that’s contagious, and their spirit is encouraging to say the least. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. – Colossians 3:14-15 We have so much to be thankful for in the United States, and yet it seems we are still continually reminded here just how fortunate we are. What does it take to be happy? For some it’s a nice house and a few new cars, but not for the people of Cofradia. The people here are in love with Jesus,…
It’s the end of the first day of distribution here in Honduras, and there have already been so many great stories of the Lord at work. Today we visited a school in a town called Cofradia, on the outskirts of San Pedro Sula. We had planned on going house to house initially, but the pastor of the church mentioned that there was an elementary school not far from the church. We made contact with the head master and she was excited to allow us to minister to the kids. There were three classes in session when we were there. In each class we spent time talking to them about Jesus, sang several kids songs about Jesus with them, and then gave each of them a bag of food and a stuffed animal. Initially the kids were somewhat slow to respond, but when one of our interpreters taught them the song,…
Part of the team from Light of Life International made the trip to Puerto Cortes, Honduras yesterday. They shared the gospel, led the people in songs, and even passed out ice cream on a hot day. What a treat! At the heart of LOLI is a belief in four things: compassion, passion, destiny, and transformation. It’s no secret we are passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ! The team may only visit a city for a few days, but we want it to be changed for eternity. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” -Mark 16:15
All around the city of San Pedro Sula you can feel the excitement building towards the crusades on Friday and Saturday night. From posters, to billboards, and even bumper stickers, Honduras Ora is everywhere! Below is a poster we saw on the way home Monday night, these are up all over the place. Continue to pray that God draws each and every person to the events this weekend. Advertising is a wonderful way to spread the word, but it’s nothing compared to a move of the Holy Spirit. Pray specifically for Stephen Evans and Dennis Aplicano, as they take the stage this weekend to lead a nation in prayer and repentance. There will be a great deal of media and national attention on this event, and it’s important to keep the focus off us and on our heavenly Father!
This morning almost 150 people set out across Honduras to deliver food, stuffed animals, Bibles, and the love of Jesus! The teams left the Hotel here in downtown San Pedro Sula bright and early headed out to 6 cities around the area. The group was split up into various teams, visiting distribution centers in Cofradia, Choloma, La Lima, Puerto Cortes, Rivera Hernandez, and Villanueva. They will spend the majority of the day going door to door in their respective communities, partnering with local church leaders to meet the needs of the people. Each group will be passing out dozens of bags full of stuffed animals, along with Bibles and flashlights. Additionally, there is hundreds of bags of food waiting for the groups in each city to distribute over the next three days. While these items might seem small to us, for the people of Honduras they open the door to…
At this point we are only 4 days away from the first night of the Honduras Prays meetings, also known as Honduras Ora. There are posters up all over the city, and commercials running on TV and radio around the clock. It’s hard to believe after months of planning, we are finally here! The rest of the team arrives in Honduras today, and we all owe a big thanks to the those who have been here working hard to organize food, water, and distribution for the upcoming week. Here is a great picture of the Advance teamon Saturday, preparing 6,000 bags of food to be passed out this week in 6 cities around San Pedro Sula. It has been amazing to see not only the American team hard at work, but the Hondurans as well. Honduras Ora is an amazing testimony to the invisible hand of God at work! Throughout…
